From Rolly Pollies to Real Estate
Pam Ahern,1974
When I was just a little girl, no older than three or four, you could find me on the job site with my grandfather in Albany, Georgia. Those days were simple but rich with imagination. While he worked, I’d busy myself collecting broken pieces of brick, scooping up mortar, and building tiny houses for the rolly pollies I’d find crawling nearby.
If there wasn’t enough mortar, no problem. I’d switch to the pine straw scattered under the tall Georgia pines, weaving it into walls, mapping out streets, and creating neighborhoods. Even my Barbies didn’t live in isolated dream houses—they had towns, entire communities with roads, parks, and places to connect.
Even then, I understood something important: a house is just the beginning. What makes a home truly special everything outside its walls—the community, the connections, and the relationships we build.
That lesson has stayed with me. It’s at the core of who I am and how I approach real estate today. Whether I’m working with a family to find their perfect home, helping a builder design a neighborhood, or supporting organizations that uplift our Atlanta community, it’s all about connection.
Our homes are deeply personal, but they don’t exist in a vacuum. They’re a part of something larger—the streets we walk, the people we meet, the businesses we frequent, and the opportunities we create for others.
I don’t just help people buy and sell properties. I help build communities where people feel they belong, where they’re inspired to dream, and where they can truly call home.
So, as you explore listings, join us for coffee conversations, or subscribe to my newsletter, know that everything we do is about connecting people, creating home, and inspiring change—just like I imagined as a little girl with bricks, pine straw, and rolly pollies.
Let’s build something extraordinary, together.
